How Much Does it Cost to Send SMS Messages

Hive's SMS pricing is pay-as-you-go. You must be subscribed to an email plan to use SMS. The cost of sending an SMS in Hive is $0.01 per 160 characters. The total price may vary depending on variable carrier fees, inbound message cost, emojis, merge tags, and special characters. See below for a breakdown of pricing:

SMS

A text that has 160 plain text characters or less (does not contain emojis, GIFs, or images). An SMS will display as one text message up to 1600 characters.

1 - 160 characters = $0.01 per SMS

161 - 320 characters = $0.02 per SMS

321 - 480 characters = $0.03 per SMS

and so on.

Note: Character count is approximate as inserting merge tags, such as first names, can increase/decrease it.

Emoji SMS

A text that includes at least one special character (such as emojis) and is 70 characters or less. Again, an SMS will display as one text message up until 1600 characters.

1 - 70 characters including an emoji = $0.01 per SMS

71 - 140 characters including an emoji = $0.02 per SMS

141 - 210 characters including an emoji = $0.03 per SMS

and so on.

International SMS

SMS is currently limited to sending to the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The same SMS rates apply to all countries currently.
